Updos are so fun to wear on special occasions. They instantly glam up your look and help you feel more dressed up than on a typical night out. This hairstyle has a little extra oomph because it features two braids draped over the other to make it seem a little more intricate. I think you will love seeing how it is broken down into steps to achieve. I love seeing a hairstyle come together; it’s definitely my favorite part.
Here are some more great braided updos to try!

Double Braid Textured Updo
- Step 1 / Begin by dividing the hair into sections. Create the first section from a right side part down to the left ear.
- Step 2 / Create a second section at the back of the crown; with a third section at the back of the head.
- Step 3 / With the front, left section, divide it into two equal halves and clip off the back portion.
- Step 4 / Create a french braid with the front section and tie off the end with a clear elastic band.
- Step 5 / Let down the back half of this front section and braid it into a fishtail french braid; tying off the end with another elastic band.
- Step 6 / With the section at the back of the head divide off two small sections on the left and right side. Then tie the center section into a messy bun, pinning the edges against the head.
- Step 7 / Braid each side piece into a rope braid, wrapping each over the top of the bun and pinning down the ends.
- Step 8 / Let down the hair at the crown and roll the section together towards the right. Lay the twist over the top of the bun and secure it with bobby pins.
- Step 9 / Twist the ends of the section into a third rope braid and wrap it counter-clockwise around the bun, pinning down the ends.
- Step 10 / Lay the fishtail braid over the bun and secure the end with bobby pins.
- Step 11 / Drape the french braid over the fishtail braid and pin it down as well.
- Step 12 / Spray the style with a firm-hold hairspray and curl any pieces left out around the face.
