I am so in love with crown braids; whether they’re dutch braids, french braids, or milkmaid braids, there is no cuter or easier way to get the hair up and out of the way than braiding it around the head. This version is a little more fancy with double wrapped dutch braids and a neat little trick for getting rid of that pesky part down the back of the head.

Dutch Milkmaid Braids Supplies:
- Rattail Comb
- 5-7 Bobby pins
- Medium-hold hairspray
Dutch Milkmaid Braids Instructions:
- Step 1 / Begin by parting the hair where you normally prefer. I’m putting mine on the right side.
- Step 2 / Divide off a section of hair at the crown, twist it together and pin it against the head with several bobby pins to add the volume you see at the back of the head.
- Step 3 / Create a part down the back of the neck to divide the hair into two sections, a left and right side.
- Step 4 / Create a dutch braid starting with the hair on the left side. Pick up a small piece near the part and divide it into three pieces. Cross the side strands under the middle incorporating hair into the braid.
- Step 5 / Continue the braid down the left side of the head towards the back.
- Step 6 / Once all the hair is brought in on the left side, braid the section to the ends and secure the bottom by criss-crossing two bobby pins.
- Step 7 / Now create a second dutch braid on the right side of the head. Crossing the side strands under the middle strand and bringing hair into the braid.
- Step 8 / When all the hair is brought in, braid the section to the bottom and secure the end with more bobby pins.
- Step 9 / Go back through the braids and gently pull on the edges to make them wider and more full. This will help to better hide any gaps in between the braids once they’re pinned.
- Step 10 / Take the end of the left braid, wrap it up the right side of the head and pin it at the top of the head.
- Step 11 / Then take the end of the right braid, wrapping it up the left side and pinning it at the top of the head. You can use as many bobby pins as you need. I like to slide mine into the center of the braid making sure it stays hidden underneath the hair.
- Step 12 / Set with hairspray and smooth down any flyaways.
