5 Summer Mini Bun Hairstyles Supplies:
Half Up Bun Instructions:
To prep for this style I curled all of my hair away from the face using a 1 1//4″ curling iron.
- Step 1 / Brush the hair straight back from the forehead.
- Step 2 / Divide off a section of hair at the top of the head, from the corners of the forehead towards the crown.
- Step 3 / Twist the section together and wrap it clock-wise into a bun at the crown.
- Step 4 / Wrap the bun with a clear elastic band to help hold its shape.
- Step 5 / Slide bobby pins around the edges to anchor it against the head.
- Step 6 / Gently pull on the sides to make it a little fuller and reshape the bun.
- Step 7 / Spray the style with hairspray and smooth down flyaways.
Half Up Double Bun Instructions:
Prep the hair by curling 1″ sections away from the face using a 1 1/4″ or 1″ curling iron. You can do this style with any natural hair texture though.
- Step 1 / Begin by parting the hair where you prefer. I am doing a diagonal side part on the left side.
- Step 2 / Next divide off a section of hair from the top of the left ear up towards the crown of the head.
- Step 3 / Twist the section together and wrap it clock-wise into a bun at the crown.
- Step 4 / Secure it with a clear elastic band and pin down the edges with 2-3 bobby pins.
- Step 5 / Now divide off a similar shaped section on the right side, wrapping it into a bun next to the first bun, securing it with an elastic band and pinning down the edges.
- Step 6 / Set the style with hairspray and again smooth down any loose hairs.
Double High Buns Instructions:
- Step 1 / Start by parting the hair where you normally part it. Mine is a side part on the left side.
- Step 2 / Continue the part down the back of the head, dividing the hair into two equal halves.
- Step 3 / Take one side and brush it into a high ponytail.
- Step 4 / Wrap the hair into a messy bun so it sits high and closer towards the center of the back of the head.
- Step 5 / Take the other half of hair and repeat the same steps brushing it into a high ponytail, wrapping it into a messy bun so it sits right next to the previous bun.
- Step 6 / Slide bobby pins around the buns to help anchor them against the head.
- Step 7 / Spray the style with hairspray and smooth down any hair sticking out along the hairline and around the nape of the head.
Double Low Buns Instructions:
- Step 1 / Start by parting the hair where you normally part it. Mine is a side part on the left side.
- Step 2 / Continue the part down the back of the head, dividing the hair into two equal halves.
- Step 3 / Take the hair on the right side and bring it down towards the nape of the neck behind the right ear.
- Step 4 / Wrap the hair into a messy bun so it sits towards the center of the back of the head.
- Step 5 / Take the other half of hair and repeat the same steps brushing it into a low ponytail, wrapping it into a messy bun so it sits right next to the previous bun.
- Step 6 / Slide bobby pins around the buns to help anchor them against the head.
- Step 7 / Spray the style with hairspray and smooth down any flyaways sticking out.
Mohawk Buns Instructions:
- Step 1 / Begin by parting the hair where you normally part it though you can do this style without a part brushing the hair straight back from the forehead.
- Step 2 / Divide off a top section of hair at about the ear level or higher and bring the section towards the back of the head.
- Step 3 / Tie the section into a messy bun, keeping it smaller and close to the head.
- Step 4 / Pick up a new section of hair, bringing it towards the back of the head.
- Step 5 / Tie it into a second messy bun right underneath the first bun.
- Step 6 / Pick up the remaining hair and tie it into a third bun underneath the first two.
- Step 7 / Slide bobby pins around the outside of the buns to anchor them against the head and set the style with hairspray.

I love all of your hairstyles Missy Sue. I am a mommy of four (three boys and one girl). I’m always busy and I try my best to do a quick updo now that my hair is getting longer. Thank you so much Sue.
