Half Up High Ponytail is the new ‘do for Fall. It’s a mix between the pompadour hairstyle and high ponytail, a chic new half updo.
I love this hairstyle because it feels flirty and girly with a little bit of attitude. It reminds me of how Barbie often wore her hair. She was the ultimate trend setter growing up so of course I can’t help but love it too.
Follow the steps below to learn how to get the Half Up High Ponytail:
1 / Start by separating out a section of hair from the ears, directly up to the top of the head.
2 / Smooth down the hair, brushing it straight back, so it creates one clean section.
3 / Tie off the section with a clear elastic band.
4 / Loosen the hair along the very top, by gently pulling it forwards, to create a bit of volume.
5 / Take a small section from underneath and wrap it around the hair band to hide it. Pin it in place with a hair pin.
6 / Pull some hair loose in front of the ears to create a softer style.
I have tried this hairstyle several times before finding your blog. I love this hairstyle but I have one issue with it. When I go to take the ponytail out at night, I unloosen it and it often gets very tangled and causes a little rat and the band even gets stuck to the point I have to cut it out. The other night was so bad that I had to cut my hair too. Just to get the band out!!!
Any secrets to keep this from happening? A cotton covered rubber band, the small mini colored rubber bands?
Any advice would help! TIA!
I always recommend cutting out the little elastics. It’s less damaging that way. For larger hair bands, I recommend scrunchies or fabric covered hair bands (: These cause the least amount of damage.
I was wondering, how do you seperate your hair? I have tried to do hairstyles like this before, but getting a clean line without any help is extremely difficult. I have to ask a friend, or my mom for help. Any tips?
I use the end of a rattail comb (:
I have an odd questions for you; your skin looks absolutely beautiful in these photos, and I was wondering what brand of foundation you use? I’m in search of new make-up, and I just love how natural your skin looks! If the pictures weren’t close-up, I would never be able to tell you even have make-up on! Thanks!!!
Hi Allison, I wear an assortment of brands but in this post I am wearing the Estee Lauder Double Wear Foundation. It’s great for all day wear. I am also pregnant so my skin is a little more oily than normal, that typical pregnancy glow I guess (:
