Braid 9-Mermaid Style Fishtail French Braid is the newest Fishtail French Braid for Summer!

I love this style so very, very much and think it would look gorgeous going down the back of the head too; an upcoming tutorial if you will (as soon as I can get my hands to cooperate that is).

I love Mermaid style braids and wanted to bring that idea into the fishtail french braid which is a braid that I have been wearing non-stop around here.

Follow these steps to get your own version or skip to the bottom for the video tutorial:

Step 1 / Begin with a deep side part.

Step 2 / Take a section right at the top and divide it into two halves.

Step 3 / Separate a section of hair from one side and cross it over, adding it to the opposite side.

Step 4 / Now take a section from the other side and add it to the other side.

Step 5 / Repeat steps 3 and 4 a few more times, 5-6 times.

Step 6 / Now cross a section over but add in a section from the outside, adding it in, creating a french braid style.

Step 7 / Then cross over a section from the bottom strand and also add in a strand from the outside as well.

Step 8 / Next, create 4 or 5 regular stitches of a fishtail braid.

Step 9 / Now take a section of hair from the outside and cross it over, adding it into the other side.

Step 10 / Then take an outside section, crossing it over, and adding it to the opposite side.

Step 11 / Then do 3 or 4 regular sections of a fishtail braid.

Step 12 / Bring in a section from the back and wrap it across, adding it to the opposite side.

Step 13 / Do the same thing on the other side.

Step 14 / Repeat the regular fishtail sections again.

Step 15 / Continue repeating steps 12-15 until all the hair is pulled in .

Step 16 / Braid the rest of the hair into a regular fishtail braid.

Step 17 / Tie off the bottom with a clear elastic band.
