French women have a reputation for being stylish and chic. Their real secret, though, Β is that they don’t fuss too much with their looks or how they dress. They wear simple basics but always keep it polished. The same goes for their hair. Their hairstyles range from simple and modest to classicly chic. If you would like to create these at home then read through for the steps to achieve the sleek style.
1 / Au Natural
Some women don’t bother with their hair too much and let their tresses tumble around their shoulders and down their back. They are usually unstructured and air dried.
If this care-free motif is too much to commit to then you can curl your hair per usual, mist it with water and spritz a sea salt spray from root to end. Then blast it with a bit of heat from the blow drier while scrunching the ends with your hands. This will loosen up the waves and leave you with a tousled bed-head look.
2 / Pulled back
Often times hair is swept back into a loose bun or with a head band. This look is easy to achieve when step one is implemented and the hair already has a natural texture to it. For the loose bun, twist the hair into a low knot and secure with a pin or two, letting a few pieces fall loose around the face.
3 / Beach Waves
This is a newer hairstyle that is inspired by a day at the beach. To create the look at home, apply a quarter size dollop of gel to wet hair, then mist with hair spray. Let the hair fall loose and air-dry to create wavy tresses. If your hair is very straight, scrunch the tips with your hands as it dries.
4 / The Braid Twist
This look gained popularity when it was worn by Anna Karina, a star from the ’60s. It is a loose, knotted style that is airy and appears effortless. It is unstructured and done in a matter of minutes.
To create the style, tease the hair at the crown for a hint of volume. Create two separate braids going down the back. Roll the braids together to create a bun and secure with pins. Pull a few hairs loose from the twist and around the face.
5 / Tom Boy Haircut
The boy-cut hairstyle is a french classic. For this look, hair should hit right at the tops or middle of the hears with many layers to create height and a piecey, choppy look. It’s styled in a tousled manner to look unkempt but is great for spring and summer when the weather is warmer outside.
I hope you enjoyed these hairstyles and will try a few at home. My favorites are one and two.

I had a friend in college who was French and she had such great style but I could never pinpoint what made her so stylish (maybe because I had zero style). Your post nailed it! Thanks for the hairstyle ideas.
