Hello friends! It’s been forever since I’ve sat down and shared a makeup review with you. I was looking through this blog of mine recently and just felt like something was missing. So in an effort to fill that void, I’ve decided to start sharing more makeup and (hopefully!) fashion posts with you. Let me know if there’s anything specific you’d love to hear about and I will get started on it! xo, Missy
In today’s post I’m excited to be sharing four foundations I’ve been using and loving (or not loving) recently. Over the past few years I’ve become converted to wearing full coverage foundations. Of course, there’s a time and place for a lighter coverage and I do still love BB & CC creams but these four today all have a medium to full coverage so let’s get started!
Estee Lauder Double Wear Stay-In-Place Makeup
This has been my tried and true foundation forever. I’ve gone through 3 bottles already and just reordered my fourth. The coverage of this foundation is absolutely amazing. I come from a family of blondes and redheads, which means freckles, and this makeup covers them all up without flinching. Don’t get me wrong I really loved my freckles but now that I’m getting older I appreciate the look of a flawless coverage.
Point #2 is the lasting power of this makeup. We’re talking all.day.long without any touchups. This is definitely my foundation of choice when I’m going for a full coverage makeup day especially when I’m filming a hair tutorial. I wear shade 1N1 Ivory.
Make Up Forever Ultra HD Invisible Cover Foundation
I’ve used this foundation several times and every time I do, I get so frustrated. While it has great coverage, I can’t seem to keep it from breaking apart when I add products on top of it. Maybe I am not letting it dry or something but I really don’t know what I’m doing wrong.
I usually combine two different shades, Y205 and Y225, to get a close match to my skintone. While it applies evenly, and great staying power, I always notice right around when I’m applying blush and highlighter that the makeup starts to separate. If you wear and love this foundation please let me know your experience with it and I’ll continue to give it a try.
It Cosmetics Bye Bye Lines Foundation
I received this foundation recently in a pr package and was anxious to use it right away. Anything that says goodbye to lines is something I am always willing to try. Of course, I had my doubts about whether or not it would actually diminish the appearance of lines and while I never actually noticed if it did, it’s still a great foundation to use on an everyday basis.
This makeup has a lighter coverage, more medium than full, and I mix the Fair and Light shades together. Surprise, surprise that a ‘fair’ shade foundation would actually be too light for me, haha! I would also like to mention that this makeup doesn’t seem to last as long throughout the day. I always noticed later in the afternoon and evening that my foundation could’ve used a little revamp if I was going out.
Clarins Everlasting Foundation
Out of all four of these foundations, this one is my second favorite. It’s comparable to the Estee Lauder foundation in coverage and lasting power and even matches my skin tone better. I wear the shade Ivory. On most days, I switch back and forth between this foundation and the Double wear.
A close runner up to this foundation is the Clarins Skin Illusion Foundation. It has a lighter coverage, more medium, but leaves my skin soft and glowy. It’s definitely a favorite throughout the summer months when I want a more radiant, natural-ish looking finish.
*A few years ago I was sent both of these foundations to try and feature in a sponsored post. Fast forward two years and I am still wearing and loving both of these foundations.
So that wraps up my review on these four foundations. I’d love to hear which foundations you’ve tried and loved or refuse to buy again. Please share in the comments section so we can all help each other out. Don’t forget to also let me know what other topics you’d love to hear about! Thanks so much for reading! xo, Missy
