31 Weeks Pregnancy Update

Baby’s gender:

Baby’s size:

This week baby boy measures over 16 inches long.

He weighs about 3 1/3 pounds (about the size of a coconut) and is heading into a growth spurt.

Baby’s development:

He can turn his head from side to side, and his arms, legs, and body are beginning to plump out as needed fat accumulates underneath his skin. He’s probably moving a lot, too, so you may have trouble sleeping because your baby’s kicks and somersaults keep you up. Take comfort: All this moving is a sign that your baby is active and healthy.

My weight gain:

23 lbs

Feeling: 

Relieved that I’ve heard so many times that a moving baby is a healthy baby. Little boy is constantly moving. People will even point it out from across the room when they see my stomach jostling around. He feels alive and well in there playing around already.

Things of Note:

I am beginning to get antsy about setting up the nursery. I have really been abstaining from it because it just didn’t seem necessary to fill up the room with furniture until we absolutely needed to. We have a crib and dresser ready and my fingers are crossed that a rocking chair magically appears from Santa on Christmas.

I have also been so good about not buying any baby clothes. I know that probably sounds silly but I have been trying hard to not buy anything because I’ve been told over and over that you get a lot of clothes at showers. Not to mention they grow out of them so quickly anyways that I don’t want a million and one newborn onesies when he might only wear that size for a week. He, oh my goodness I am having a little boy. It is still sooooo crazy to think about!
