29 Weeks Pregnancy Update
Baby’s gender:
Boy
Baby’s size:
Baby boy is growing rapidly now. This week he weighs about 2 1/2 pounds (about the size of a butternut squash) and is a tad over 15 inches long from head to heel.
Baby’s development:
His muscles and lungs are continuing to mature, and his head is getting bigger to accommodate his growing brain – which is busy developing billions of neurons. Every day, about 200 milligrams of calcium is deposited in your baby’s skeleton, which is now hardening. With this rapid growth, it’s no surprise that your baby’s nutritional needs reach their peak during this trimester.
My weight gain:
21 lbs
Feeling:
A tad overwhelmed at how quickly my due date is fast approaching. I remember when I still had 6 months to go and now it seems, at only two months away, the time is going by much quicker than I thought it would.
Morning sickness:
None to speak of except I pretty much have a constant cold. The moment it goes away, I seem to get another one right afterwards.
Cravings:
I still crave salty, hearty foods. I find myself getting full a lot quicker though and continue to eat small meals in shorter intervals.
Things of Note:
I have found that I am getting tired a lot more quickly now; similar to how I felt in the first trimester. I go to bed early around 9:00 or 9:30 PM and struggle to wake up in the mornings.
I love my body pillow to prop up my neck and head but struggle to wrap my legs around it. I am not used to sleeping that way and often times wake up to find the end of it pushed off the bed completely.
This little guy is constantly moving. I can see it all the time and he usually wakes me up during the night with his wiggling and little kicks. It is so fun to see him moving around though and I can’t help but wonder all the time what his little personality will be like.
