While on our trip we decided to cruise down Highway 1 and see what we could find along the way. We stopped at a number of beaches, enjoyed the gorgeous sand!, chowed down on sea food, stopped into the Monterey Aquarium, and explored Muir Woods.
I grew up in an area surrounded by sandy beaches and crystal clear water so seeing the ocean was like going home. I get all sorts of warm fuzzies when I can smell the salty air and run my toes through the soft sand. I would have spent all day at a different beach each day we were there if I could have.
Directly but indirectly related to that was the aquarium that we visited in Monterey. Seeing all the different sea creatures that live in our oceans is so fascinating. I was telling AJ that my favorite day in science class was watching videos about the open seas and what lies within it. I am deathly afraid of sharks, like mad woman scared of them but when they are freely swimming around, a thick sheet of glass between myself and their big teeth, they are beautiful creatures.
The jelly fish were by far my favorite things to see. There were so many different ones I couldn’t believe it. So startling to think I could find myself swimming along side all those tentacles in an awful nightmare but just watching them gracefully swim was truly amazing. There are so many beautiful things on this earth and this trip allowed me the opportunity to see more and more of it.
When I hear people say they left their heart in San Francisco I totally get it.
another round of amazing pictures.
the aquarium is always worth a visit in my opinion. i love seeing all the sea creatures too.
and i looooove the ocean. maybe it is my destiny because my name means “from the ocean/sea, living by the ocean/sea”.
anyway, i am one of the people who lost their heart in san francisco.
Just read both of your San Fran posts & I’m so, so excited that you’re recommending it since we’re planning a trip in September (San Fran + drive down the coast). Thanks for the recos in advance :)
Beautiful photos – what an amazing trip! xxx
