When I discovered highlighting and contouring it changed my life. It was only about a year or so ago that I learned about it. I knew I was supposed to wear bronzer and blush but I didn’t actually know the reasoning behind it; now I can’t go a day without it. I notice it now too in movies and tv shows. “Oh she’s got on a cheek stain” or “I wonder what product she’s wearing for that contouring.” It’s a little crazy. I just try not to talk about it out loud to AJ or he might think I’m more loony than he already thinks I am.

I was out and about one day when I saw a girl and the longer I looked at her the more I realized there was something different about her. Her entire face was the same color. I mean spot on, one color [I applauded her ability to do this] but kept thinking and thinking “there’s something not right.” Then I realized, there wasn’t any highlighting or contour to her face. Highlighting and contouring your face helps it look natural. The sun brightens the bridge of your nose and your cheek bones; the hollows of your cheeks are naturally darker along with your jawline. This girl had accomplished an “even” skin tone, but there was no “natural”-ness to her look.
