What would you do for a slice of ham??

[Before work yesterday I was sitting at my desk when Dorsey strolled in]
Dorsey: “Am I late?”  (as she looks down at her watch)

[For the record, I am not always late, but usually]
Me: “Will you finish this cookie? It’s starting to make me sick.”
AJ: “Yeah”

[15 minutes laterthe cookie is still on the counter tempting me]
Me: “You’re not doing a very good job of eating this cookie.”

Happy Weeeeeekend!

After devouring the Hunger Games and Millennium Trilogy I was looking around for the next big adventure. In the past two weeks I have read and enjoyed a number of books which I thought I’d review.

Divergent, Veronica Roth

If you loved the Hunger Games you’ll enjoy this book.

It’s not nearly as good but it brings back a similar feel. Set in the future but with society organized a bit differently. I’d recommend this book if you’re craving another Hunger Games look-alike to tie you over til the movie comes out.
*Disclaimer: The second book doesn’t come out until May 1, 2012. I can’t wait!

Legend, Marie Lu

I enjoyed this book because I liked how cunning both main characters were. I would recommend reading this book. It almost gives the feel of Aladdin (the beggar) meeting Jasmine (the princess) in disguise and falling for each other before they find out the truth behind each other’s lives.
*Disclaimer: The second book doesn’t come out until Fall 2012.

Enclave, Ann Aguirre

This book reminds me of “I Am Legend” when most of civilization turns into zombie like creatures. The main characters start in an enclave underground in the subway systems of New York fighting off the “Freaks” in an effort to protect the people living in their enclave. When they are exiled to the surface they run into a gang that rules what’s left of New York City but eventually travel North in a search for other human civiliations.

Delirium, Lauren Oliver

Warning: Do NOT read this book unless you like to finish a book crying your eyes out.

I finished this book literally sobbing. Sobbing. Then I couldn’t stop thinking about it. I was SO mad how it ended. So mad. All the work, all the leading up to it, and then bam!

Lena turns around and looks back.

Your heart plummets in your chest and you can’t believe it. You sit there shocked. Then you feel it coming. It washes over you like a hundred foot wave and you can’t hold it in. You just let it go and you can’t believe it. You can’t believe she would do that to you. How could she finish it like that? How could she make that happen? Why did it have to end that way? Why?

Then .Why doesn’t the next book come out for another month!? It’s torture!

I was literally so mad the rest of the day. AJ thought something terrible had happened and it had! Not to me but to Lena. I couldn’t believe it. I was so mad and shocked and upset and just crying. Every time I pictured it in my mind I just wanted to rewrite it and put Alex right beside Lena not on the other end. Plus, if you read the next book supposedly she forgets about Alex and supposedly falls in love with someone else! Ridiculous.

Matched and Crossed, Ally Condie

These books were a little ridiculous. They’re set in the future but it’s mostly just a story about a girl and her foolish thoughts. If you enjoy teen love stories and all the repetitive thoughts they have over and over about what they think and do then you’ll like these books. The first one is about how she’s Matched with Xander to marry him but falls for another boy Ky. The second book is about how Ky is taken away and she leaves the Society to find him. The third book comes out Fall 2012.

Maze Runner, James Dashner

This book was entertaining. Definitely a guy book and part of a trilogy. I haven’t decided yet if I’m going to keep reading the next books.

Don’t forget to Enter the Stella and Dot Giveaway!

I can’t even believe it’s Friday again. My weeks fly by. I’m not complaining. It just blows my mind. Pretty soon I’m gonna be 60 and think “where’d the time go?” In the meantime I’ll just be doing random braids all over my head.
Two weeks til we could be moving out. It’s coming so quickly. We still haven’t confirmed where we’re living and the stress is getting a little exciting. I want to move out but I don’t want to commit to any place yet because the idea is nerve-wracking. It shouldn’t be that big of a deal but for some reason I’m just too picky for my own good. I just thought I was picky about food but apparently I’m picky about everything.
I really want to go skiing this weekend but I don’t really know what we’ll be doing. Maybe just laying low. Last night when I got home from work I flopped down on the bed on my stomach reading my book and right away Gucci squeezed in between my arms, laid on his back and rested his head on my book looking at me like, “love on  me.” He’s such a silly dog, always trying to get my attention; my favorite little boy.
What are your weekend plans? Anything crazy, out of the ordinary?

Cabo San Lucas

What kind of vacation do you look forward to most?
Do you prefer a scheduled itinerary with lots of sight-seeing or one with a lot of lounging and making plans as you go?

When AJ and I got married, we agreed to take a family vacation every summer. Last year we went all out and traveled to England to see his parents and to Holland with mine. This year we’re thinking about keeping it a little more low-key.

Santa Monica Pier

My idea of the perfect vacation is napping on the beach and taking dips in the ocean. I’ve always wanted to go to Cabo San Lucas but I’d also love to go anywhere in California.

Coeur d’Alene, Idaho

While AJ would love making the long flight to Coeur d’Alene, Idaho in a Cessma 172. We’re still discussing the details, doing research and trying to figure out what would be best.

Where do you like to vacation?
