Ponytails are such a great go-to hairstyle. They’re quick, easy, and get all of your hair up and out of the way. I really, really love them. In fact, I find myself wearing them way more often than I’d like to admit.

A few weeks back I posted a picture of this hairstyle on instagram and received so many requests for a tutorial. I thought I’d quickly throw one together and while I recreating it, realized I was feeling a lot more pressure to make it cleaner than I had for the instagram pic. I always feel like I can make an instagram pic more breezy and loose but that’s what’s so great about hair! It’s so easy to slightly alter a look to make it fit your own personal style. Whether it’s smooth and sleek or casual and carefree, it can be tweaked to fit whatever vibe you’re going for that day.

Everyday Flip Twist Ponytail Instructions:

Prep: I curled all of my hair with a 1 1/4″ curling iron before starting and added in 4 single clip extensions.

  • Step 1 / Begin by parting the hair where your normally prefer; mine is slightly off-center towards the left. Next divide off a triangle shape section from the part about an inch above the left ear. Twist this section together towards the back of the head.
  • Step 2 / Now divide off a similar size section on the right side of the head. Twist the section together and bring it towards the back of the head. This can be kind of tricky but it’s doable with concentration.
  • Step 3 / Tie the two twists together with a clear elastic band.
  • Step 4 / Now flip the tail up and around the elastic band to tighten the twists. Then go back over them, gently pulling on the twists to make them a little fuller. You can go nuts and make them more big and loose if you’d like.
  • Step 5 / Combine the rest of the hair together and tie it into a ponytail with a hair band, directly underneath the flipped section.
  • Step 6 / Take a small section of hair from the ponytail and wrap it around the hair band. Pin it in place with a bobby pin.
  • Step 7 / Extra step: I back combed the base of my ponytail to make it fuller and set everything with hairspray.

I used to think there was nothing I could do about my dry skin. It was always so frustrating to look down at my hands and see and feel how dry they were. I can’t even tell you how many times I would slip on a dress and be on my way to a social event only to realize my legs were flaky and dry. My skin has definitely changed as I’ve gotten older and finding the perfect solution for curing my uncooperative dry skin has always been a priority.

Dry skin can be triggered by so many different things such as stress, not moisturizing, dry air, hot showers and baths, harsh soaps, caffeine, alcohol, the list goes on and on! I’m sure there are many of you who also suffer from dry skin and can relate to the uncomfortable feelings you get when you have dry skin. There’s nothing worse than when someone else notices it and points it out too! To help end all of that I decided to make a conscious effort to take better care of my skin. I wasn’t sure how difficult it’d be to achieve but was happy to discover how simple it actually is to do!

I am so excited to tell you that I’ve discovered something new, the Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer. It’s a new wet skin formula that lays the foundation for better moisturizer.

Hydrated, healthy skin requires a good water supply to the top layers of your skin. After showering, your skin cells expand like a sponge which provides an easy pathway for Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer to soak in and penetrate into just showered skin before it’s dried off.

Healthy skin contains vital building blocks called Ceramides which help maintain the skin’s natural moisture barrier. When these are lost, skin becomes dry and damaged.

Curel Hydra Therapy Wet Skin Moisturizer contains an advanced ceramide complex which helps penetrate the skin to the source of dryness, helping to replenish the skin’s ceramide levels and repair the moisture barrier. This combination of ceramides and Hydra Therapy is awesome because it focuses in on the main factors that cause dry skin in a unique and effective way.

Often times I’ve found some lotions to be irritating on the skin simply because of the fragrances that were added to it. Since Curel Hydra Therapy is fragrance-free I don’t have to worry about that!

As a woman, healthy-looking skin is extremely important to me. I don’t ever want to feel embarrassed or less confident because of my skin. I’ve only been using this product for a few days now but I can already tell that it’s going to make a big impact on my daily skincare routine. So far I’ve been applying it every morning and in the evenings but especially after getting out of the shower before toweling off. I love how it glides on so smoothly without leaving behind any greasy residue. My skin immediately feels more hydrated and stays that way for the rest of the day.

For those of you who suffer from dry skin too I am sure you can relate to all of this! Regardless of how horrible dry skin can feel, I know using Curel Hydra Therapy daily will help me end my dry skin. Try it with me and let’s all have beautiful skin together!

Pulling on a dress is one of the easiest 10 second outfit. I love wearing them in the Spring when the weather starts to warm up. They are so easy to throw on and go and I can’t help but always be on the lookout for cute new silhouettes. I love the color of this one and love that it cinches at the waist. It’s comfortable but also casual enough to wear during the day. Pairing it with some cute booties is such an easy way to dress it up a bit. I already know this dress will be on repeat this coming season.

It was so windy while we were taking these pictures, half of them were me struggling to keep my hat on my head. It obviously was a terrible day to decide to wear this hat but I really felt like it completed this outfit. It was so hot today in Arizona. It already feels like Summer. AJ and I both agreed it’s basically Summer for 8 months out of the year and then there’s 2-3 months of Fall and 1 month of Spring. I can’t get over it. I feel like I should still be wearing light sweaters and long sleeve blouses but I tried to wear one the other day and was so hot I had to change. It’s seriously the craziest thing ever.

Prom is coming up soon and a few of you have already started asking for tutorials. I usually always post updo hairstyles so this year I thought it’d be fun to change things up and do a half up style! This is definitely an easier hairstyle but prom hairstyles can be super intimidating so I wanted to feature something that you could do on your own at home. Of course, I think this would also be great as an everyday hairstyle which is how I wore it since I’m not going to prom any time soon. I’d love to hear what you think and whether you’d wear this style to prom or as an everyday hairstyle instead. xo, M

Half Up Braid Wrapped Bun Supplies:

  • Rattail Comb
  • 9-10 bobby pins
  • Medium-hold hairspray
  • 1 1/4″ curling iron

HU Braid Wrapped Mini Bun Instructions:

Prep: For this hairstyle I curled all of my hair with a 1 1/4″ curling iron. I curled each section away from my face and added in 3 wefts of Luxy Hair extensions for added volume and length.

  • Step 1 / Start by creating a center part and then divide out any hair to frame the face.
  • Step 2 / Next pick up a small slice of hair on the left side of the part. Split this into three sections for the braid and then cross the right strand over the middle and then the left strand.
  • Step 3 / Then do one more crossover on each side and bring in new sections of hair.
  • Step 4 / Now continue the braid only adding in hair from along the hairline until it reaches the temple.
  • Step 5 / Then braid the section to the bottom and criss-cross two bobby pins over the ends so it doesn’t unravel.
  • Step 6 / Now I’m going to repeat the exact same steps creating a second braid on the right side of my head, only adding in hair from along the hairline until it reaches my temple. Then I’m going to braid the section a little further down and criss-cross two bobby pins over the ends.
  • Step 7 / Next divide off a small section of hair at the crown and twist the section together.
  • Step 8 / Wrap the section clock-wise, creating a small gap and then pulling the ends through the gap to create a knot.
  • Step 9 / Then continue wrapping the ends around the edge of the bun and pin the edges with bobby pins.I slide them in towards the center until it feels snug against my head.
  • Step 10 / Now take the braid on the left side and wrap it over the bun. Remove the bobby pins from the ends of the braid and continue wrapping the braid clock-wise around the bun.
  • Step 11 / Then pin it in place with bobby pins.
  • Step 12 / Next take the braid on the right side, bring it back to the bun and pin it against the head.
  • Step 13 / Then remove the bobby pins from the end of the braid and wrap it underneath the bun.
  • Step 14 / Continue wrapping the braid  clock-wise over the top and pin the end so it doesn’t come loose.
