Double Fishtail French Braid Updo Supplies:

Double Fishtail French Braid Updo Instructions:

  • Step 1 / Start by parting the hair where you normally part it; I’ve parted mine slightly off center.
  • Step 2 / Now divide out a section of hair at the crown, smooth it down with a comb, and then twist it together and pin it against the head.
  • Step 3 / Divide the remaining hair into three sections, behind the right ear and then the left ear, and clip these side sections out of the way.
  • Step 4 / With the back section, combine the hair together and tie it off with a clear elastic band.
  • Step 5 / On the last wrap of the elastic only pull the hair part way through to create a loop.
  • Step 6 / Take sections of the loop, bring the hair up against the head, and pin them against the head with bobby pins.
  • Step 7 / Now take the ends that are sticking out under the bun and loop these back towards the elastic tucking them in to form the bottom portion of the bun.
  • Step 8 / With the hair on the right side, create a fishtail french braid.
  • Step 9 / After four stitches of the braid, stop adding in hair to the top portion of the braid and continue adding in hair to the bottom side.
  • Step 10 / Once all of the hair is brought into the braid, lay the braid over the top of the bun and pin it in place by sliding bobby pins into the middle and up towards the right side.
  • Step 11 / Go back over the braid, pulling on the edges to add some texture to it.
  • Step 12 / Then repeat those same steps and create a second braid with the hair on the right side of the head.
  • Step 13 / Once all of the hair is brought into the braid, lay it over the top of the bun and pin it in place by sliding bobby pins into the middle of the braid.
  • Step 14 / With the hair left over from the ends of the braids, drape these over the bun and pin them on the sides to finish off the style.
