What’s the secret to staying warm during the cold winter months? Layer, layer, layer.
With the cold weather sneaking up I wanted to do a follow up post from this one and show how to properly layer your clothing for the upcoming crisp, cold, and chilly weather. Here’s a few tips on how to do it like the pros, *ahem, the french women.
1 / Start with a blouse, button down, or basic top
4 / Finish with a coat
The one I’ve always had a hard time with is the scarf. One-I never remember to put the darn thing on and two-I never remember to put the darn thing on. I admit, sometimes I do feel silly wearing a scarf but I’m just going to get out of that habit. I did read that french women wear scarves every day and the only times they don’t are when they’re at the beach. This makes sense because the weather in France is usually cold or if it does get warm it’s not for very long.

Hello. First, french women dont layer, other than scarf part maybe, second France is a big country where there are cold and very warm areas, so it is not always cold at all. Maybe you meant Paris? But then its not always cold either.

French women don’t wear a black bra under a white blouse like one of your photos

I love this! When I was living in Spain I made a slew of friends from all over Europe and I loved their different styles. The French girls were always really put together and sleek and cool (classy leather jacket, springy scarf, wavy hair). I loved the Italians, too. They always were bundled up in a way that looked really messy and “I don’t care”…not even necessarily what you’d consider fashionable. Underneath was always adorable. And they always had a giant chunky scarf, a top not, and sunglasses. I loved the tights/short trend, too. Love all your “How To Look French” posts. :)

haha that is so true for the scarf. I mean I’m French and I just feel so naked without it. If oneday I forget it I’m like “Damned, I’ve forgot my scarf” all day long. The wind on the throat…not good :)
